Congratulations to three Broward County Public Schools (BCPS), Discovery Elementary School, Forest Glen Middle School and Lyons Creek Middle School, for being selected as Exceeding Expectations Award Schools by the East Coast Technical Assistance Center (ECTAC). The Exceeding Expectations project identifies and recognizes high performing Title I schools in the state of Florida.
In the fifth year of this project, ECTAC selected Discovery Elementary, Forest Glen Middle and Lyons Creek Middle to participate in the project based on achievements in English, math and science reflected in the results of the Florida Department of Education 2016 School Grade data. Following onsite visits, all three schools were identified as Award Schools.
In September 2017, staff will present at the Exceeding Expectations Conference in Orlando, Florida, during breakout sessions to share best practices with other school districts across the state. The schools and staff will be recognized at the annual Exceeding Expectations Awards Banquet during the conference.
“To be recognized by the Exceeding Expectations project is an accomplishment that shows how hard our teachers, staff and students work together to excel at our school,” said Discovery Elementary School Principal Julie DeGreeff. “We are excited and look forward to sharing ideas and best practices with other educators at the conference.”
“I am incredibly proud that Forest Glen Middle School is part of the Exceeding Expectations project,” said Forest Glen Middle School Principal Ronald Forsman. “This is a reflection of our dedicated teachers and staff.”
According to Lyons Creek Middle School Principal Horace Hamm, “We have a student-first environment where the entire staff is dedicated to ensuring all students receive a high quality education. We are honored to be part of the Exceeding Expectations project and look forward to sharing strategies from our school at the conference.”
