Panther Run Elementary School Partners With Make-A-Wish Southern Florida to Surprise Local Student

May 22, 2019

Make-A-Wish Southern Florida

WHO:
Students, Staff, District Leadership, Local Dignitaries and Representatives from the Make-A-Wish Southern Florida

WHAT:
Panther Run Elementary School students will surprise Charlotte Nathanson with her wish (to learn to surf in Hawaii) during an elaborate reveal at the school.

WHEN:
Friday, May 24, 2019
8:30 – 9:15 a.m.

WHERE:
Panther Run Elementary School
801 NW 172nd Avenue
Pembroke Pines, FL 33029

WHY:
Charlotte, an eight-year-old Plantation resident who has been battling leukemia, thinks the reason she’s been invited to Panther       Run Elementary is to give a speech about cancer and what she’s wishes for from Make-A-Wish. What she doesn’t know is the

students she’ll be speaking to are ones that have raised more than $5,000 through the “Kids for Wish Kids” program – enough to underwrite the cost of Charlotte’s Hawaiian dream.

Once the third grade student is finished sharing perspective on her struggle and what she hopes to do in Hawaii, she will be surprised with news that her wish will be granted in just a few days, on June 1. This will happen as more than 600 students, faculty, administration and local dignitaries reveal Hawaiian leis and themed decorations to celebrate meeting the recipient of their ‘pay it forward’ efforts (#PantherRunGrantsWishes).

MEDIA ARE INVITED TO COVER THIS EVENT.

About Make-A-Wish Southern Florida

Make-A-Wish Southern Florida has granted more than 12,000 life-changing wishes since 1983 for children who have critical illnesses. It aims to grant a wish for every medically-eligible child in its territory and understands wishes aren’t just nice, they’re necessary for kids and families at some of the most difficult times in their lives. Wish kids most often ‘wish to be’ (something), ‘wish to meet’ (someone), ‘wish to go’ (somewhere), ‘wish to have’ (something), or ‘wish to give’ (to a cause) and the nonprofit organization makes this happen for the child and his/her entire family at no cost or obligation. The Southern Florida chapter’s territory includes 22 counties/four regions in southeast and southwest Florida, Tampa Bay, and the Suncoast (Sarasota area). It also includes the U.S. Virgin Islands.
