Nearly 350 High School JROTC Cadets and Instructors, School Board Members, District Administrators, Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) Principals and Local Elected Officials
WHAT:
The annual BCPS JROTC STEM Leadership Camp is blasting off with student cadets receiving training in rocketry, robotics and drones. The week-long, overnight camp takes place on the campuses of Nova Southeastern University (NSU) and Indian Ridge Middle School, both in Davie, and includes cadets from 31 BCPS high schools plus cadets from Miami-Dade County. Cadets are selected to participate by their JROTC instructors and stay in NSU dorm rooms. The camp is funded by the Army JROTC Cadet Command.

WHY:
The BCPS JROTC STEM Leadership Camp provides cadets with real-world college learning experiences focused on STEM with training in rocketry, VEX robotics and drones (building, coding and flying). Cadets also participate in citizenship and leadership exercises. In addition to the STEM Leadership Camp in Davie, 40 BCPS cadets will participate in a ground-aviation wings JROTC Leadership Camp in Pensacola, Florida, June 22 – 29.
